Silica sand is an inert substrate used for growing certain types of carnivorous plants, either on its own or mixed with other substrates. In this case, we are referring to 83.32% pure silica sand and grit (also known as quartzite or quartz grit), obtained from the natural disintegration of quartziferous rocks through the rolling of pebbles in rivers in the province of Pavia. For cultivating carnivorous plants, it is commonly mixed with other substrates, particularly for Pinguicula, tuberous sundews, petiolate sundews, and others.
