Pine bark

1.5016.01 *

Pine bark in substrates is very useful for aerating the substrate. With its relatively large size, much larger than the diameter of other elements commonly used for growing carnivorous plants, it allows air pockets to form within the substrate. These are essential to ensure the root quality of all plants that do not tolerate or dislike excessive water stagnation.

Here are some examples of use:
-33% Peat / 33% Perlite / 33% Bark for growing Nepenthes
-25% Peat / 25% Perlite / 25% Bark / 25% Dried dehydrated Sphagnum moss for growing Nepenthes (possibly adding a handful of live sphagnum moss around the growing point)
-Percentage of not more than 25% if used to aerate other plants that do not like stagnant water such as Brocchinia and Catopsis
