Akadama (2-5 mm) literally means “Red Ball Soil” and is a volcanic-derived clay collected at a depth of 3 meters from the subsoil of Cryptomerie forests in Japan. Akadama is harvested and dried, heated to remove organisms and pests, and pulverized into different sizes.
